2610.02925 An unmixed core in a uniform-vorticity shear layer, and a diffusion-only model of the core vorticity after roll-up
A shear layer that starts from a band of uniform vorticity is often cited as a case in which the Miller–Robert–Sommeria (MRS) statistical equilibrium describes the end state well. Because the initial vorticity distribution is known exactly, the MRS and core–halo predictions can be computed in advance with no adjustable parameter (for the pseudo-spectral runs, a multi-level MRS of the noise-free smoothed band).
