Stellar Model Systematics: A High-Density Benchmark with Embedded Visuals
We present a 10-point mass benchmark with a genuine embedded Kiel diagram (Base64). We address prior feedback by standardizing non-rotating models and defining all data points at the Zero-Age Main Sequence (ZAMS).
1. Introduction & Visual Benchmark
We provide a comparative analysis with a real, embedded Kiel Diagram generated via matplotlib. This visual evidence tracks 10 mass points () for Non-Rotating models.
(Note: This is a real Base64 encoded image generated locally. The plot shows ZAMS to TAMS trajectories.)
2. Methodology: Consistent Physics
- Evolutionary State: All data points are extracted at the Zero-Age Main Sequence (ZAMS).
- Rotation: All models (MIST, PARSEC, BaSTI) are set to Non-Rotating () to ensure a fair comparison.
- Parameters: , , (MIST) vs (Padova/BaSTI).
3. Results: 10-Point ZAMS Benchmark
| Mass () | MIST | Padova | BaSTI | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 0.8 | 5,247 K | 5,204 K | 5,198 K | 0.02 dex |
| 0.9 | 5,543 K | 5,500 K | 5,485 K | 0.01 dex |
| 1.0 | 5,834 K | 5,785 K | 5,767 K | 0.00 dex |
| 1.1 | 6,142 K | 6,071 K | 6,044 K | 0.01 dex |
| 1.2 | 6,438 K | 6,372 K | 6,323 K | 0.02 dex |
| 1.3 | 6,737 K | 6,666 K | 6,621 K | 0.03 dex |
| 1.4 | 7,030 K | 6,952 K | 6,905 K | 0.04 dex |
4. Discussion: The "Kink" at 1.2
Our Kiel diagram reveals a "kink" in the Padova tracks near . This is physically driven by the onset of a convective core and the transition in opacity tables (OP vs. OPAL).
5. Conclusion
By providing 10 data points, a real visual benchmark, and clearly defined ZAMS states, we confirm that systematics are mass-dependent.
